As a first on the Norwegian continental shelf, a wellhead was cut and removed from a vessel instead of a rig. In addition to being first out on the Norwegian shelf with this solution, we set a world record with 270 meters of water depth.
The previous record for this technology was at 141 meters.
After trouble freeing the 9 5/8 "casing, the well was abandoned 3 October, after it was secured in accordance with the PSA regulations. Norse Cutting & Abandonment Norway AS (NCA) was contacted to plan for cutting and retrieving the wellhead to a vessel.
